The European Action Week against Racism takes place from 15-19 March. The UvA Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) team, in cooperation with the SeSi Community Center of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), Pakhuis de Zwijger and Comité 21 maart are presenting a rich programme of events during this week, including the ones for which you can register below.
Programme
All students and staff from the UvA and AUAS are warmly invited to attend any of the (online) events, including a wide variety of music, spoken word, storytelling, lectures and workshops, with plenty of room for dialogue. The week kicks off on Monday, 16 March with a ‘Diversity 101’ workshop, and ends on Sunday 21 March, the International Day against Racism, with the (1.5 metre) demonstration taking place at the Museumplein at 13:00.
We are stronger together
The CDO team is committed to diversity, inclusion and equity within the university. During this week the theme is: We are stronger together: We lift each other up when we care for our community. This is because self-care is not enough on its own, a shift toward community care is also necessary. Community care recognizes that we don’t all have equal access to time and money, which are the main resources needed for care. It reminds us that as human beings, we are interdependent. In other words, please don’t forget the people around you. We hope the events planned during this European Action Week against Racism will uplift and inspire, bringing us all closer together.
